Stop Hearing Loss by Knowing What Causes It

Hearing loss is becoming a major health issue. Research to stop hearing loss is coming to the forefront. To find out how to stop hearing loss, we need to understand its causes.

Hearing loss or deafness is the inability to hear sounds. Hearing loss can be temporary or permanent. Deafness can be partial or full. Some people are born with deafness, some develop it later. Many with an acquired hearing loss may have gotten it from one loud event or from persistent exposure to loud noises over a long period of time.

Excessive noise is the most common cause of hearing loss. People often don't understand that ears can't take too much noise for too long. Listening to loud music, with headphones and speakers, can permanently damage the ears, and such activities should be limited. Simply turning down the volume of the radio, TV, stereo, MP3 player, CD player, etc can save the ears from hearing loss.

When loud noises can't be avoided, like work in a noisy factory or airport, taking precautions can save hearing. Sounds above 85 decibels harm the ears and can cause hearing loss. Earplugs should be used in such circumstances to protect the ears from damage leading to hearing loss.

Hygiene can also play a role in stopping hearing loss: preventing the buildup of excessive earwax inside the ears can keep the ear canals healthier. Ear cleaning periodically and the use of eardrops to prevent wax buildup can help. Anti-oxidants and Vitamin C in the diet can prevent ear inflammation.

Some medicines have been known to have hearing loss as a side effect. If you are taking a medication, and your ears appear to be affected, ask your doctor or pharmicist to check the side effects and ask for alternative medications from your physician.

A healthy diet with lots of exercise can help stop hearing loss. A raw food diet seems to heal most anything - see Live Food Healing .com. some other techniques to stop hearing loss are surgery, implants and hearing aids.

Proper care for the ears is extemely important, as hearing is one of your most valuable assets. We all need to study the causes of hearing loss, and find ways to stop it.
