How To Stop Hearing Loss

The sense of hearingis one of the most important senses, but some people lose their hearing at least partly. Hearing loss is often disregarde and is not often discussed. Hearing is crucial for communication with others and hearing loss can be a real problem.

Tinnitus is one hearing condition, with ringing in the ears, that often occurs with hearing loss. Tinnitus is exremely annoying. Some factors causing tinnitus are old age, loud noise, lifestyle, bacterial or viral ear infection and excessive earwax. How loud does the noise have to be to cause hearing loss, and do some frequencies contribute more than others? These are key questions being researched curerently.

Hearing loss can happen with just one huge earsplitting accident or it can be caused by long-term exposure to loud noises. It varies from person to person. It is annoying when you can't hear clearly what others are saying. In a party, those with hearing loss are often frustrated, since speech may sound faint and inaudible compared to background noise.

Researchers are trying to find effective ways to stop hearing loss. Meanwhile, there are basic ways to protect the ears, particularly the tiny hairs inside that allow hearing. These hairs gather sound, and hairs in the ear that are damaged can result in hearing loss. To avoid hearing loss, avoid loud noise or wear earplugs when there are unavoidable noises, such as a lawn mower. Be careful when using ear buds for radios - don't turn up the volume. Also, don't put small objects in the ear, as they may cause considerable damage. One old phrase is "don't put anythng smaller than your elbow in the ear",

In really bad cases, when the bone in the middle ear is immobile, ear canal surgery may an option. The bone is replaced and the patient is told to keep the ear dry for 2 weeks. After surgery, some cases of further impairment have been reported, but 90% of the surgeries are reported to successfully stop hearing loss.

To stop hearing loss, a hearing aid is often recommended. Some doctors have recommended taking sodium fluoride medication. Alternative health would recommend a raw food diet, herbs, vitamins and minerals, acupuncture. Chiropractic adjustments have sometimes helped, especially after whiplash. Craniosacral therapy has sometimes been used. Check with your chiropractor, doctor, or nutritionist to find the right method for you.
